A 1957 custom classic 50' steel sloop by Heinrich Garbers
Atlantis is our 50' steel sloop designed by Kurt Oehlmann and constructed in 1957 in Hamburg by the German boat builder Heinrich Garbers. Built in the immediate post-war era out of highest quality steel originally milled for the manufacture of U Boats, Atlantis is strong and safe, but she is also sea-kindly and elegant. Little is known of her early life but, having been beached and damaged by a hurricane in 1982, Atlantis was subsequently sympthetically restored and is now owner maintained and equipped using the best quality materials to preserve her for adventures still to follow and generations yet to come.
A voyage of contrasts. Initially, from Plymouth to Stockholm and back, and then south across Biscay, along the Atlantic coasts of Spain and Portugal and back into the Med to Genoa via Cartagena, the Balearics and Monaco.
From Muros in Galicia, south along the coast of Portugal to Gibraltar then into the Mediterranean for visits to the Balearics, Sardinia, Sicily, southern Italy, Montenegro, Croatia and then return to Genoa before heading back to UK.
